Native youth in Manitoba launch 310-mile walk

Native youth from Island Lake northern Manitoba are walking 310 miles to raise awareness about issues in their community, CBC News reports.

The two dozen youth are from four reserves in the Island Lake area. They are walking from Norway House to Winnipeg in hopes of meeting with politicians.

Since January, three young people have committed suicide on one reserve, according to CBC News. In December, there were reports of a drink called "superjuice" that contributes to a high rate of violence among Native youth.
