Video of Narragansett raid shown repeatedly at trial

The trial of seven members of the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island who were arrested during a raid of the reservation is entering its sixth day.

According to The Providence Journal, video of the July 14, 2003, has been played repeatedly during the rial. State prosecutors and defense lawyers both say it bolsters their side of the case.

The state says the seven tribal members -- including Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas, two council members and a tribal police officer -- resisted arrest and engaged in disorderly conduct. Prosecutors appear to be paying a lot of attention on the behavior of Adam Jennings, who worked at the smokeshop that was raided.

Jennings incidentally won a $301,000 decision against the state troopers for excessive force. The state is trying to overturn the award and get a new trial.
