Burton Pretty On Top Sr., a spiritual leader of the Crow Tribe of Montana, announced his bid for chairman on Monday.
Pretty On Top vowed to improve housing conditions on the reservation. He said he would build 1,000 homes and reach out to off-reservation tribal members.
The incumbent chairman is Carl Venne. He can't run again due to term limits.
The tribe's primary takes place in October, with the general election in November.
