Cherokee Nation donates $2.8M to public schools

The Cherokee Nation donated more than $2.8 million to public schools in northeastern Oklahoma.

The tribe sets aside a portion of its car tag revenues for education. This year, 94 school districts will see an increase in their share of the funds.

“We are determined to be partners in building the best possible education system, and this is one way we can do that," Chief Chad Smith said, The Muskogee Phoenix reported.
