Della Warrior has been named chief operating officer by the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians of California.
Warrior is a member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma. She is the former president of the Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico and a former trustee for the National Museum of the American Indian.
""As the tribe continues to progress and expand its services, the tribal council recognized that it was imperative that we hire a highly skilled individual to assist the tribe on carrying out its numerous activities," Rumsey Chairman Marshall McKay said in a statement.
