Secretary Kempthorne to roll out DOI budget

Secretary Dirk Kempthorne will announce the Interior Department's fiscal year 2009 budget today.

The budget is Kempthorne's second since joining the Bush administration. He is requesting $27 million to help tribes combat methamphetamine and hire up to 200 more law enforcement officers. He also wants $25 million to improve Indian student achievement levels.

The rollout takes place at 1pm at the main Interior building. Once the budget is released there, it will be available online at http://www.doi.gov/budget.
