Man charged with murdering Winnebago girl

A 23-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Raina Hulit, who was a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

Hulit, 15, was last seen on January 5 at a house party in South Sioux City. Her body was discovered five days later. She had been shot.

Matthew R. Hettinger is accused of killing Hulit with a rifle. He has a history of assault and has violated his parole, KTIV reported.

Hulit is being buried on the Winnebago Reservation on Thursday.
