John Sells, Navajo Code Talker, laid to rest

John Sells, a Navajo Code Talker, was buried Thursday in Farmington, New Mexico.

Sells died last Friday at the age of 92. He kept his role as a Code Talker during World War II a secret for most of his life and didn't tell his wife and children until 2001.

"I couldn't believe it," his wife, Alice Sells, told The Farmington Daily Times. "He never told me. I was excited; I was surprised and I was proud."

Sells received a Congressional silver medal for his service.
