EEOC dispute over 'No Navajo' policy continues

A drive-in restaurant in Arizona is still facing federal scrutiny for its "No Navajo" language policy.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued RD’s Drive-In after four Navajo women refused to sign the policy. The women were fired.

The Kidman family has drafted a new policy on the use of Navajo in the workplace. The EEOC has to approve it but also says the family reneged on a promise to pay damages to the fired Navajo workers.

RD's says it adopted the policy because some Navajo workers complained about the use of Navajo in a degrading way. The restaurant also says some Navajo customers complained.
