Michigan tribe closing college, some businesses

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of Michigan is closing its tribal college and selling some of its businesses after re-examining its financial priorities.

The Ojibwa Community College will close at the end of the semester. The school failed to receive accreditation for several years. About 60 students -- six of them full-time -- are affected by the closure.

Meanwhile, the tribe is closing down its tire shop and is moving forward with plans to sell two radio stations. KBIC Tire was losing money, tribal CEO Larry Denomie said.
