Reno-Sparks Indian Colony re-elects chairman
The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony of Nevada re-elected chairman Arlan Melendez to a seventh consecutive term on Saturday.

Melendez defeated five challengers for the position. He had about 48 percent of the vote.

“Our people seem to be supportive of the leadership and direction of the tribe, although we need to improve our services to the community,” Melendez said.

Melendez sits on the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights and is active within the National Congress of American Indians.
