Sen. Dodd called a friend to Mashantucket Tribe

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) isn't considered one of the leading presidential candidates but he's emerged as a top pick for members and employees of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Citing records from the Federal Election Commission, The New London Day said 38 people linked to the tribe have contributed $21,600 to Dodd's presidential campaign. The tribe's political action committee donated $2,300 to Dodd, the only presidential candidate the committee has supported.

“He's been a good friend to the reservation and those friends appreciate his knowledge and insight and that is important to Indian country," tribal spokesman Arthur Henick said of the senator.

Dodd is trailing in funds and in poll numbers when compared to other Democratic presidential candidates.
