Mohegan Tribe to bury longtime chief on Friday

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut will hold funeral services for the late Chief Ralph Sturges on Friday.

The funeral takes place at the Mohegan Church. Sturges will be buried at the tribe's burial grounds at Fort Shantok.

Sturges died on Monday at the age of 88. He was chosen chief for life in 1992, two years before the tribe received federal recognition, settled its land claim and opened a casino.
