New Tulalip Tribes preference policy proposed

Some members of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington say it's too hard to get a job on the reservation.

The tribe has a Tulalip preference policy. But former tribal board member Les Parks says it's not enough.

"All we've had is a watered-down preference policy," Parks told The Everett Herald. "If a manager wants to find a way around it, they can."

Parks and other tribal members are proposing a new policy that requires the tribe to hire Tulalips over other applicants. They hope to present the issue at next month's general council meeting.
