Muscogee council members criticize court ruling

Members of the Muscogee Nation's National Council criticized a tribal court decision that calls for their public censure.

Councilors accused the Creek Nation Supreme Court of distorting the tribal constitution. They also said the court was injecting politics into the judicial process.

Despite their outrage, the lawmakers said they would abide by the ruling. The court said the council violated the constitution by trying to control spending by the executive branch.

Public notices of the council's censure are being placed throughout Muscogee country.
