Arrest made in shooting on Shivwits Reservation

Authorities in Utah arrested a man in connection with a shooting on the Shivwits Paiute Reservation over the weekend.

Enos Grayman is accused of shooting Steve Wall, a member of the Shivwits Band of Paiute Indians, in the back. Wall reportedly was trying to protect Grayman from shooting Grayman's girlfriend.

The gunshot narrowly missed Wall's spine, police said. "He came very close to being paralyzed," a spokesperson for the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

The state has jurisdiction on the reservation.
