Haskell student injured in second accident

Willow Jack, a 26-year-old student at Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas, is recovering from her second accident in as many years.

In August 2005, Jack and her family were involved in a car accident in Montana. Her husband, Daryl Dewayne Jack, a 2000 graduate of Haskell, and her four-year-old daughter, Maliah, were killed.

Jack, who is Lemhi Shoshone from Idaho, was seriously injured and doctors said she might not walk again but she proved them wrong and regained full use of her legs. Her son, Nakeezaka, suffered minor injuries.

But in June, tragedy struck again and Jack and Nakeezaka, 8, were injured in another car accident in Kansas. The two are slowly recovering with the help of the Haskell community.

"I'm just hoping I will be able to dance again," Jack told 6News of Lawrence. Jack is a powwow dancer.
