Pascua Yaqui Tribe suspends chairwoman over ethics

Herminia Frias, the first woman to lead the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona, has been suspended for violating ethics policy.

Frias will retain her title but has apparently lost some authority after members of the tribal council said she failed to consult them on certain decisions. She plans to appeal her suspension in tribal court.

Frias was elected in June 2004. She has 10 months left in her term.
