Complaint against Rosebud president in limbo

The president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota was spared from a hearing into an ethics complaint on Tuesday.

President Rodney Bordeaux is accused of violating tribal law by purchasing land without proper approval. The tribal council set a hearing to consider the complaint.

But the council voted 10-7 to send the complaint back to the ethics commission for further review. Three of the council members who voted in favor of ending debate are related to Bordeaux.

The tribe is holding new elections this fall.
