South Dakota baseball team hosts Native youth

Upwards of 1,500 Native youth from across South Dakota are expected for the "Native Nights" event hosted by the Sioux Falls Canaries baseball team.

The team gave free tickets to Native youth groups from several reservations. The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribe, the Yankton Sioux Tribe, Gov. Mike Rounds (D) and Wells Fargo Bank each donated $1,000 for the event.

Organizer Lynn Hart hopes the event will lead to better race relations. He has arranged for several Native performers and honor guards to present at the game tonight.
