Tulalip Tribes drop out of running for UW campus

The Tulalip Tribes have dropped out of competition for a new University of Washington branch campus.

The tribe expressed an interest in hosting the campus on land near its Quil Ceda Village. But the tribal council decided to keep the land for housing and other projects.

The tribe still wants to participate in the selection process for branch. "We decided that having a campus near the reservation would be just as good as having it on the reservation," state Rep. John McCoy (D), a tribal executive, told The Everett Herald.
