Chief targeted over RCMP pepper spray incident

About 60 members of the Sechelt First Nation in British Columbia have occupied three tribal buildings in protest of Chief Stan Dixon.

The protesters want Dixon to resign over his handling of pepper spray incident. On July 2, Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers pepper sprayed a group of tribal members, including young children, while they were celebrating the victory of a youth soccer team.

The local RCMP sergeant apologized for using pepper spray. Protesters say Chief Dixon shouldn't have accepted the apology without consulting the community.
