Grand Traverse resort workers sue over wages

Employees at the resort owned by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians say they are owed more than $1 million in wages.

The employees say the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa broke state laws by imposing a $150 bi-weekly deduction on paychecks. The policy was imposed by the prior owners of the facility.

The tribe bought the resort in March 2003 and ended the policy in December 2006, a lawyer for the employees said. The attorney said the tribe has been willing to resolve the issue.
