Disenrolled Indians oppose exclusion bill in California
Thursday, June 7, 2007

Disenrolled Indians in California are opposing a bill that would make it a crime for non-tribal members to enter reservations without tribal permission.

Senator Gloria Romero, a Democrat, sponsored SB131. She said it will help law enforcement in rural reservations.

But disenrolled Indians say the bill will enable tribes to kick out dissidents. They could be fined by tribes for living on reservations, they say.
