Navajo chapter paves way for skate park in Shiprock
Navajo skaters and bikers will soon have a place of their own in Shiprock, New Mexico.

The Shiprock Chapter is using one acre of former Bureau of Indian Affairs for the park. Construction will start in June, with funding coming from a variety of tribal, local and private sources.

"It would be epic," BMX biker Teryl "Trout" Johnson told The Farmington Daily Times. Johnson launched a petition drive for the skate park six years ago.

The chapter is hosting a cleanup day this Saturday at the park site.
