Activist and performer John Trudell spoke to students at Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas on Thursday.
Trudell talked about his days with the American Indian Movement. He said not much has changed for Indian Country in the past couple hundred years.
"The state of Native America today is just as precarious a situation now as it was in the 1700s and 1600s,"
he said, The Lawrence Journal-World reported.
Trudell came to the school's campus to screen a documentary on his life and music.
