Emergency room at IHS facility fails inspection

The emergency room at an Indian Health Service facility on the Navajo Nation has been closed after equipment failed a government inspection.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services inspected the ER at the Crownpoint Health Care Facility in Crownpoint, New Mexico. Numerous citations were issued for outdated equipment and out-of-compliance services.

The Navajo Area Indian Health Service said it will take a couple of weeks before the ER is reopened. The rest of the facility is still up and running.
