Former Hopi chairman seeks time on radio show

Ivan Sidney, the former chairman of the Hopi Tribe of Arizona, is asking for time on the radio show of a Houston, Texas, council member who insulted Native Americans.

Sidney wants Houston Mayor Pro Tem Michael Berry to apologize to all Native Americans. He asked for "equal time" on Berry's KPRC-AM talk show to talk about Indian issues.

Berry has admitted he was "wrong" for claiming that the federal government was giving Indian people money. He wrote a generic e-mail to Sidney but did not offer any time on the show.

Sidney was ousted as chairman of the Hopi Tribe last year for an alcohol-related incident.
