Montana lawmaker presses for health care funding

Montana State Rep. Jonathan Windy Boy, a member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, testified at a Senate Finance Committee field hearing on Wednesday.

Windy Boy said funding for Indian health care should be a top priority for the government. "Many of the diseases that tribal people suffer from are completely preventable and/or treatable with adequate resources and funding," he said, The Great Falls Tribune reported.

He also said tribes need more flexibility to determine Medicaid services.
