Little River Band public safety official faces DUI charge

The public safety director for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians faces a drunk-driving charge in Manistee, Michigan.

Joseph J. LaPorte, 55, was arrested on Sunday night. Officers say he failed three out of four field sobriety tests.

The city has requested a special prosecutor to bring charges in order to avoid conflicts of interest
