Cousin of Seminole council member killed by police

Dennis Osceola, a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, was fatally shot in the back during a confrontation with tribal police, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

A tribal officer were called to a home on the reservation in response to a break-in. The officer found Osceola, 47, a cousin of tribal council member Max Osceola, on a porch with an assault rifle. It was around 2am last Thursday morning.

An officer confronted Osceola, who reportedly pulled out a knife. Two back-up officers arrived at the scene and fired three Tasers at Osceola but the shots apparently had no effect. Osceola was then shot in the back and was pronounced dead later that morning.
