Blackfeet Nation farmers eligible for USDA loans

Members of the Blackfeet Nation in Montana are eligible for Department of Agriculture loans to help them recover from last summer's drought and fires.

The USDA considers the reservation a primary natural disaster area. Last August, the Red Eagle Fire consumed 32,000 acres, much of it prime forest and agricultural land.

Tribal members can apply for Farm Service Agency loans to restore or replace property, pay for production costs, cover family expenses and refinance debts.
