Northern Cheyenne Tribe to move slowly on coal
Thursday, November 16, 2006

The Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana will move slowly on plans to develop coal resources on the reservation, president Eugene Little Coyote said.

A majority of tribal members approved a ballot initiative to develop the coal. But they rejected another referendum over coalbed methane.

The tribe still has more studying to do before moving forward, Little Coyote said. There haven't been any talks with any energy companies who might be interested in developing the coal.
