EEOC accuses Montana firm of racial harassment

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit against a Montana company over alleged harassment of an Indian employee.

The EEOC says the Les Schwab Tire Center in Kalispell refused to stop daily racial slurs, jokes and name-calling against Earle Nevins. Nevins complained more than 30 times but when he asked his supervisors to document his claims, he was fired, according to the lawsuit.

The Human Rights Bureau in Montana investigated the case and found grounds for illegal discrimination. But efforts to resolve the case failed.
