Former tribal judge sentenced for meth, drug ring

A former judge on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine and drug ring.

Lynda Noah pleaded guilty to threatening a Bureau of Indian Affairs agent and conspiracy to distribute meth and prescription drugs on the reservation. She was one of more than 20 people charged in connection with the drug ring.

Overall, federal authorities have laid charges against more than 50 people for distributing meth on or near the reservation. It has been called the largest drug ring in the history of Wyoming.

The Eastern Shoshone Tribe and the Northern Arapaho Tribes are based on the reservation. They have taken an active role in fighting the trafficking and abuse of meth, and have worked closely with local, state and federal authorities.
