KBIC member appointed to Small Business post

William H. Largent, a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in Michigan, has been named director of the Small Business Administration's Office of Native American Affairs.

Largent has 30 years of experience with small businesses. He created his first company on his reservation when he was 21 and was a board member for the Native American Business Alliance.

At the SBA, Largent will promote and enhance small business services and opportunities for tribes and Native Americans, the agency said. "His accomplishment as an entrepreneur and as a strong supporter of economic development and growth for Native Americans makes him a great asset to the agency," said SBA Administrator. Hector V. Barreto.
