Blackfeet Nation seeks probe of BIA jail abuses

The Blackfeet Nation of Montana has passed a resolution calling on Congress and the FBI to investigate alleged abuse of inmates at the Bureau of Indian Affairs jail.

The BIA has been running the jail as part of a federal takeover of the tribe's law enforcement programs more than two years ago. The tribe says the BIA has mismanaged the facility, considered one of the worst in Indian Country.

The resolution comes one month after a 31-year-old men committee suicide at the jail. Juveniles also have made complaints of abuse at the facility.
