Indian woman wins SBA award for person of year


An Ojibwe woman who owns a construction company has been named the 2005 Minnesota Minority Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Kathleen Meyer, a member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, runs Meyer Contracting, Inc. Her company specializes in the installation of water and sewer mains.

Meyer Contracting's largest contract was for work related to the construction of the Hiawatha light-rail line in Minneapolis [More Info].
