Ohio Congressman vouched for indicted Abramoff pal
Tuesday, August 16, 2005

Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) once inserted comments into the Congressional Record backing a partner of Jack Abramoff who has now been indicted along with the disgraced lobbyist.

On October 26, 2000, Ney praised Abramoff pal Adam Kidan as a businessman with a "renowned reputation for honesty and integrity." He hailed the purchase of a fleet of casino boats by Abramoff and Kidan as "positive."

Abramoff and Kidan have since been indicted on bank fraud charges for their $147 million purchase of SunCruz. Authorities allege they faked a $23 million wire transfer.
