Friday, April 8, 2005

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has entered into a partnership with the Jason Foundation to combat suicide among Native youth.

The BIA hopes to bring the foundation's expertise in dealing with teen suicide to Indian Country. The foundation develops programs for parents, students and educators to recognize and deal with suicide.

Suicide rates among Native youth are two to three times higher the general population, according to government statistics.
