The chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe delivered the State of the Tribal-State Relationship address to the North Dakota Legislature on Thursday.
Charles W. Murphy said the tribes have been working well with the state. He cited the benefits of the tribal-state gaming compact and a fuel tax agreement.
Murphy said tribes and the state should work together to resolve usage of the Missouri River. The reservation has suffered from water problems in recent years and several states are battling for control of the river.
The address was the 11th delivered since 1985.
