An Alabama group called the Cherokee River Indian Community plans to appeal a ruling denying it a sales tax exemption.
The group applied for an exemption through the state Revenue Department. But the department said the group lacked federal recognition.
The group says it should be treated the same as a church that was granted an exemption because it provides similar services.
