City puzzled over Seminole Tribe's role in contract

Officials in Hollywood, Florida, can't figure out whether the Seminole Tribe has a role in an $18 million deal to dump processed waste on the reservation.

A company called Schwing Bioset and a tribal member said the tribe agreed to accept the sludge. But in a letter to city officials, Seminole President Moses Osceola said there is no contract. He said the tribe has only agreed to accept the waste on a trial basis.

The tribe's alleged involvement was what prompted the city to sign the $18 million deal with Schwing Bioset. The company works with Bio-Native Technologies to find tribes that will accept processed sludge.
