Onondaga Nation worried about burial disturbance

The Onondaga Nation of New York is concerned that a proposed luxury housing development will disturb a tribal burial ground.

The proposed project is located within aboriginal territory. Nearby is a documented burial ground.

The state has begun a review of the site. If necessary, the state may consult the tribe for removal of any remains or artifacts.

The tribe hasn't decided what to do if anything is found.
