$2B in diamonds estimated taken from reservation

The Brazilian government estimates that $2 billion worth of diamonds have been taken from the Roosevelt Reservation over the last five years.

Mining is illegal on Indian but so-called garimpeiros have been coming to the 6.7 million-acre reservation in search of riches. But the tribes living on the reservation don't see any of the money, fueling conflicts with the outsiders.

Tensions boiled over when warriors of the Cinta Larga Tribe killed 29 miners in April. The men may face charges under federal law.
