Ex-sheriff, deputy admit theft from Indian ag program

A former sheriff and his deputy in Montana have agreed to plead guilty to theft from an Indian agricultural program.

Former Glacier County Sheriff Gary Racine resigned on Thursday in connection with the charges. Racine and deputy John Evans, who remains on unpaid leave, admit they stole $31,000 from the American Indian Livestock Feed Program by submitting phony claims.

Glacier County is located on the Blackfeet Reservation.
