Indian student quits college after racial attack

An Indian student from New Mexico recently quit the University of Wisconsin-Madison and returned home after a racial attack left him injured, The Wisconsin State Journal reports.

Friends and school officials say Kyle Aragon, from Acoma Pueblo, was accosted by a group of white men in late February. Aragon apparently ignored their taunts but someone threw a beer bottle at him, hitting him above the eye. He required stitches.

UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley tried to convince Aragon, a pre-engineering major, to stay but Aragon was determined to go back home.
