Slain Navajo soldier recalled as quiet and strong


Sgt. Lee Duane Todacheene, a Navajo medic who was killed in Iraq on Monday night, was recalled a quiet but strong person who did well in school.

Todacheene, 29, grew up on the Navajo Nation in Arizona. He graduate from Navajo Preparatory School.

Todacheene is the nephew of Navajo Nation Vice President Frank Dayish Jr. through Dayish's wife. The tribe has requested flags be flown at half staff in honor of Todacheene. The Navajo Nation Veterans Subcommittee issued a statement in praise of the "Navajo warrior" who "went to war � not to hurt, but to help."
