An inquiry into the death of a Native teenager in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, resumed on Monday.

The inquiry, called by the Saskatchewan government, started in September and has taken longer than expected. So far, it has cost $2 million, double than expected.

Testimony was to resume yesterday but was delayed with a judge's order to police to turn over records of a possible parallel investigation into Neil Stonechild's death in 1990. The police at first refused to discuss the issue but a lawyer for the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations found evidence of it.

Many in the Native community suspect police involvement in Stonechild's death. Police were looking for him the night he was last seen alive. A witness has testified that he saw Stonechild being placed into a police cruiser.
