Navajo Nation cleared in cattle rustling case

The Navajo Nation has been cleared of contempt charges in a politically-charged cattle rustling case.

Former Navajo Council Delegate J.C. Begay's home was raided by tribal police during a cattle rustling investigation. No charges were ever filed but Begay sued the tribe, saying his civil rights were violated. He also said the tribe didn't return all of his property.

The Navajo Nation Supreme Court, however, dismissed the case on procedural grounds. Begay says he will continue to fight and is demanding a written apology.
